Distance: 39-minute drive

Scenery: American Indians used to use Little Buffalo State Park as hunting territory and a place to grow their grains. Today, locals and tourists visit this state park to picnic, swim, fish, hike, and learn about its nature and history. This state park offers many covered bridges and an old stone mill. The real beauty is the park’s hundreds of acres of vibrant colored forest. Every third weekend in October Little Buffalo State Park hosts the annual apple festival. 

Hawk Rock

Distance: 31-minute drive

Scenery: This spot is a little tricky to find but well worth the journey. Hawk Rock’s lengthy trail takes about 45-minutes of hiking to reach Cove Mountain Duncannon Overlook. From this spot, you can see the fall color palette for miles and miles. Be sure to pack a lunch so you can enjoy lunch with a view!

Bullfrog Valley Park

Distance: 19-minute drive

Scenery: Families with children will especially love this site. Follow the quick trail past a small lake and a stream until you find Shank Park. This quaint park offers athletic fields and playgrounds for guests to enjoy.There’s even a coffee shop nearby that offers a patio with spectacular leaf views as well! 

Rattling Creek

Distance: 48-minute drive

Scenery: Attention all bikers, we have the fall foliage spot for you! Hop on your bike and ride through Rattling Creek’s bike trails to immerse yourself in the crisp autumn air. The vivid color leaves crackle under your tires as you zip along the trails. 

Riverfront Park

Distance: 11-minute drive

Scenery: If you’re looking for some fall colors close to our hotel, this is your best bet. Riverfront Park has a paved trail which can be used for walks, runs, or long bike rides. Be sure to charge your phone because this park offers some beautiful photo ops, especially in front of the Walnut Street Walking Bridge.
