Carlisle Auto Show History
Though the Carlisle Auto Show has evolved into one of the largest automotive flea markets in the world, its inception came with humble beginnings. In 1974, Bill and Chip Miller (no relation) wanted to create an event for “car guys and girls just like them.” During their previous time together, they visited numerous car shows and automotive flea markets where they discovered there was still a huge market available, as up until then the only cars considered worthy to collect were pre‐WWII automobiles. The first show took place on the rented Carlisle Fairgrounds where 600 vendors set up in more than 800 spaces attracting 13,000 spectators at a $1 admission fee. The fair has been growing since.
Event Highlights
Occurring April 21–25, 2021, once again at the Carlisle Fairgrounds, this year’s Carlisle Car Show will be a pleasant return to form. There will be over 8,100 spaces for vendors selling various automotive parts, accessories, cars, collectibles, and memorabilia. Some of the more prominent displays include the Manufacturers Midway & Automotive Flea Market, the Car Corral, an ARMO Hot Products Showcase, the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) display, and a Women’s Oasis. Odds are you’ll be coming home with something!
